What is PGP Encryption?
PGP encryption is designed to secure digital communications—commonly emails, files, and other data transfers—against unauthorized interception or tampering.
Clients can use PGP encryption to encrypt files containing external data before importing it into an Opt-Out List. This is done using Grab Transfers. PGP is widely used to protect sensitive emails, files, and other data from unauthorized access or manipulation.
To use this feature, a client can request a PGP public key from OPTIZMO. The client then uses the Public Key to encrypt their file, which adds a.pgp extension to the filename, before uploading to an SFTP server.
When a file with a.pgp extension is added to a Grab Transfer, the OPTIZMO system will decrypt the file before importing the data into the client's Opt-Out List. OPTIZMO's system looks for the.pgp extension to know it needs to decrypt the file and then rename the file, removing the.pgp suffix. It is recommended that you name this files something like transfer.csv.pgp. That way, when the.pgp suffix is stripped and the file decrypted, it still has a suitable file extension.
