SHA-256 Hashing
Why is SHA-256 not available as a List Storage option?
At this time, OPTIZMO does not support SHA-256 as a hashing method for list storage, cleansing, or searching. While SHA-256 is a common encryption standard in some industries, our platform has focused on supporting MD5 and SHA-512 to meet specific client demands and security standards.
Available Hashing Options
Currently, the platform supports the following formats for list creation and data storage:
• Plain Text
• MD5
• SHA-512
Exceptions for Data Transfers: While you cannot store or cleanse data using SHA-256, there is limited functionality for it within Send Transfers. If you need to export data to a partner who specifically requires SHA-256, you may have the ability to select SHA-256 as an output option when creating a new Transfer.
However, please note that the core system—including storage, cleansing, and searching—does not support this format.
What if I have data in SHA-256?
If you or your partners currently possess data in SHA-256 format, you cannot import it directly into a Suppression List. To utilize this data within the platform, you must:
1. Re-hash the data into either MD5 or SHA-512 before uploading.
2. Upload the data in Plain Text (if your list settings allow), and the system will automatically hash it to the list's configured format (MD5 or SHA-512) upon import.
Here is the documentation on the available hashing methods in SUPPRESS.
