Opt-Out Redirect Credits FAQ
Q: What the heck is an Opt-Out Redirect Credit?
A: When a consumer unsubscribes from an email message, CAN-SPAM requires that a confirmation of that opt-out request must be provided. When you choose to take advantage of earning credits, we are simply providing this confirmation message on a content site hosted and managed by OPTIZMO. We serve other ads among the articles, and apply a per-1,000-redirects credit directly to your bill (essentially we are buying your exit traffic on a CPM model). You earn money immediately by just turning it on! See an exact replication of what the consumer would experience by opting out via this link (include link for clarity).
Q: Simple enough, and I like the idea of reducing my bill. How do I start collecting Opt-Out Redirect Credits?
A: Just click the “Start Collecting Credit” button on the “Opt-Out redirect Credits” page in your UI! There is no technical work, or anything else to do!
Q: I am collecting Credits, but my Opt-Out Redirect Credits page shows less than 100% of my eligible Opt-Outs are being counted. Why?
A: There are several factors which could be affecting your % of opt-outs receiving credits. As account holders enable the feature, we begin with redirecting a smaller percentage (~10%) of the eligible opt-outs to the new confirmation page. We then typically increase that volume incrementally over a period of several weeks, so as to avoid throwing up any red flags with our Ad Partners via a significant increase in traffic to the site, which may be inadvertently flagged as fraudulent or ‘bot’ traffic. There are also rare large spikes in existing traffic, where we will act to mitigate the risk of our Ad Partners policy violations by turning high traffic clients down temporarily. Additionally, you may have some of your Advertisers or Campaigns individual settings disabled for the feature, which you can adjust in each of their settings. Lastly, per the Terms of Use of the Feature, we reserve the right to increase, decrease, stop and start redirecting opt-out traffic for any reason, at any time.
Q: How will I see these Credits applied to my bill?
A: There will be a line item added to your Invoice/Receipt showing “Opt-Out Redirect Credits” and an amount deducted from that invoice. This figure is derived directly from the Credits page in your UI.
We will credit your account for all opt-outs successfully redirected to the agreed upon site. If your credit amount exceeds your monthly billable amount, we would simply roll that credit over to the following month. Roll overs expire after 60 days, if not applied. Opt-Out Redirect Credits are processed and applied to your bill the month after they are earned. e.g. January credits appear on the February bill. Payments are then done/charged on the 1st of each month and the credit is applied at that time.
Q: How can I tell which Advertisers in my Network Account have this feature turned on?
A: By default, all Advertiser profiles in a Network/Agency account will be enabled when you turn on the Feature. If you want to disable any Advertiser’s opt-outs from being redirected, you may do so in their individual settings.
Q: How can I become an Ad Partner and run my own ads on the opt-out redirect site?
A: While this option is not available yet, we hope to roll out a more robust set of capabilities around this feature very soon!
