What is List Cleansing?
Overview
Clients have the option to allow their Mailers to upload their mailing list to be de-duped against the Opt-Out List they have access to. This is the preferred method for Mailers if they choose to use it because it eliminates human error when trying to remove email addresses from the Opt-Out List to their mailing list. This option needs to be enabled in the client's account for the Mailer to see it. The second motivation for Mailers to use OPTIZMO's List Cleansing Service is that OPTIZMO's platform does the heavy lifting of the cleansing process, which can be a technical challenge for Mailers who don't have the capacities and infrastructure to cleanse against large Suppression Files.
Where can I enable this feature?
For Advertiser accounts - you can enable it globally on the default settings page under the Mailers Access section.
- Click on the Settings tab
- Navigate to the Mailers Access section
- Enable the List Cleansing option.
For Network accounts - you can enable this globally in the Advertiser's profile.
- Go to the Advertiser's settings page
- Navigate to the Publishers Access section
- Enable the List Cleansing option.
*Please note - depending on your business needs, you may only want this enabled for a particular Opt-Out List. In this case you would keep this option off at the Default Settings level and enable it at the Opt-Out List level only.
How does it work?
When this feature is enabled, your mailing partners will see an option in their mailer portal that says "Cleanse Opt-In list". This will allow your partner to upload their mailing list and it will be automatically cleansed, or de-duped, against the Opt-Out List attached to the Campaign.
Does it Cleanse Against Domains Only?
Yes - if you have domains listed under Suppress Domains for an Opt-Out List, the cleansing tool will remove all emails using those domains from the uploaded list.
